Rating Book: 4.4/5 (841 users)

Download or read book Troubadour Poems from the South of France written by William Doremus Paden and published by DS Brewer. This book was released on 2007 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The poetry of the troubadours was famous throughout the middle ages, but the difficulty and diversity of the original languages have been obstacles to its appreciation by a wider audience. This collection aims to redress the situation, presenting English verse translations in contemporary idiom and a highly readable form. It includes some 125 poems, with a strong representation of those composed by women, and goes beyond traditional limits in time to feature a sampling of the earliest texts in the Occitan language, written in the tenth and eleventh centuries, and later works from the early fourteenth. Though most poems translated in the book were written in Occitan, the vernacular of southern France, there are also a few translations of poems written in the same place and time but in other languages, including Latin, Hebrew, Norse, Catalan, and Italian. Genres include love songs, satires, invectives, pastourelles, debates, laments, and religious songs. A comprehensive introduction places the troubadours in their historical context and traces the development of their art; headnotes introduce each poet, and the book ends with a bibliography and suggestions for further reading. WILLIAM D. PADEN is a Professor of French and Italian at Northwestern University, and was recently named a Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Acad130>miques. FRANCES FREEMAN PADEN is a Distinguished Senior Lecturer in The Writing Program and Gender Studies, also at Northwestern University.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Believe the cosmic rule that no one is sent by God to you without a reason. Why on earth it is he or she who met me and turn my life upside down? Why the one in trillion chances rested on him or her to give me such a shocking wave of love/life lesson? ......... The reason why we have the sixth sense intuition as human beings are because our souls had read the script of our current life before incarnation took place. We just forgot all the details. It is not unusual that we get strong premonitions before major life events happen. It is also not surprising when we feel hidden turns always lurking somewhere without any logic facilitation. ....... If we feel needy to this world, then we owe the world something. If we feel needy to someone, then we owe this person something. The needy tendency is an inborn thing, the so-called “Love at First Sight”. Or it could be acquired, the so-called “Emotional Entanglement”. Being Needy shows what we owe the outside because it keeps draining energy from us not what the outside owes us Mankind is often confused between the two. To learn more, just look into LIFE CONTRACT and give me your feedback, the 2nd series will be coming up soon.

This book was released on 2004-08 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work is written with a law enforcement officer?s investigative mindset and from the perspective of a prisoner.I discovered through a survey of Christian bookstores that no books were exclusively on or about repentance, but most only touched on the topic. The only author who had anything to say about repentance beyond a mere mention was Charles G. Finney in Finney?s Systematic Theology. This 600-page work transformed my thinking and influenced my investigation. This book discusses spiritual leadership without bashing any spiritual leader. It points out carnality without castigating any particular ministry or denomination. Hundreds of illustrations will familiarize the reader with revelations about repentance and carnality. These illustrations, like parables, contain revolutionary truths that are true to Scripture, reason, and life, so that Repentance: The Doctrine of God may become one harmonious revelation!Warning: As you read this book, you will encounter deep-seated carnality residing within the blackened depths of your soul, and it will not want to be exposed! But take heart?Almighty God will accompany you on this journey for the complete regeneration of your soul.
