Book excerpt: Hold Your Own, Kate Tempest's first full-length collection for Picador is an ambitious, multi-voiced work based around the mythical figure of Tiresias. This four-part work follows him through his transformations from child, man and woman to blind prophet; through this structure, Tempest holds up a mirror to contemporary life in a direct and provocative way rarely associated with poetry. A vastly popular and accomplished performance poet, Tempest commands a huge and dedicated following on the performance and rap circuit. Brand New Ancients, also available from Picador, won the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry and has played to packed concert halls on both sides of the Atlantic.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ollie Johnson wrote this book hoping she could help someone who have lost a child. Tyrone was a special child. His mind was far beyond his eight years. Ollie didn't know so many people had heard about this little brave boy. People would come to the door and just pass gifts for him. He was so special. All the times he was in the hospital, he wouldn't let the nurses do anything. He would say my mother and my sister will bathe me. He passed at home, when they could not help him anymore. Ollie said she will take him home and take care of him. The doctor always explained to him what was happening to him. Tyrone seemed to understand what they were talking about. He loved church. He wanted to be baptize, so they let him. Tyrone told Ollie he wouldn't be with her when he becomes an adult. His dad was so fond of him. He was born ten and a half years after Ollie's last child was born. During Tyrone's last days, they had a nurse coming in. He told her, "You can change my bed and dress me." This was Sunday. His doctor on Friday had called and told them to go and make plans for his funeral and that she would be there on Monday. Tyrone died on Sunday with lots of people and family there. In Psalm 127:3aEUR"5, it is said children are too often seen as liabilities rather than assets, but the bible called children "an heritage of the Lord," a reward. We can learn valuable lesson from their inquisitive minds and trusting spirit. The person Ollie is today is because of the time God loan Tyrone to her. As he was passing, he looked at her and said, "Hold your head up, no more tears." He closed his eyes, and he was gone.

Book excerpt: The International English Language Testing System, or IELTS, is an international standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers. It is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English, and was established in 1989. Achievement in this qualification is benchmarked against the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), from level C1 Advanced (CAE) to C2 Proficiency (CPE) of the CEFR. We collect 2100 English Vocabulary in C1 Advanced (CAE) and 3000 English Vocabulary. Based on our many years' experience in HSK and IGCSE Chinese teaching and course contents preparation, we find vocabulary level classification is so important. Students can use CEFR levels for self-assessment so that they can more clearly define what they need to work on, and work out what they would like to achieve in their target language. Our Classified Chinese vocabulary list HSK and IGCSE has total 12000 vocabularies with the Best English Translation for better understanding. Many students call it "LIFE SAVING STRAW" for their exam. This book is a great success and encourages us to work beyond it. Based on our pass experience and data collection, by referring the authoritative resources like Cambridge and Oxford dictionary, here is our painstaking effort!

Book excerpt: Manny had heard stories about Lion's Gate. From what he was told, it was a fitting name for a state prison. Lion's Gate had a reputation to house only the most violent criminals in the state. What went on inside of the walls of Lion's Gate took place at no other prison in the state of Arizona. It was the last facility that was actually run by the inmates themselves. All the guards did was pick up their checks and make sure no one tried to jump the fence. The guards could care less what the inmates did to each other. To them, it was a job that paid the bills and required very little of them at most times. They did what they had to do when they had to do it, but no more than that. Not being one to believe everything he was told, Manny still couldn't help but feel a nervous knot in his stomach tighten at the thought of actually beginning his sentence at Lion's Gate. He expected to start off on a medium-custody-level yard, where they allowed a lot of free time and offered self-help classes. He figured he would get a job in the kitchen washing dishes and would just stick to himself, do his own thing. If Lion's Gate ended up being the starting point of his journey, he somehow knew that his time would be spent much differently.

Book excerpt: Like asking the eagle to lumber or bear to fly, you will never find your own graceful state of being by looking outward for direction. Grace appears when you step inward to your unique essence and walk your own path. (108) Humans Being is a book dedicated to all who long to find their voice, pursue their passion, and live more fulfilling, creative, and healthier lives. It offers a simple framework in the form of the Universal Soul Grid for reconnecting with unique purpose and voice and for recognizing unconscious choices that block creativity, insight, and lives of ease. The exercises are designed to provide practice fields for readers to engage at their own pace and to reinforce what it means to live in grace, listen to the heart, and lead a life of clarity and courage. The path to lives of ease and grace is available to all, and yet: Not all of us have been engaging all aspects of this path. But its influence and prompting in your life become clear when you look squarely at who you are becoming, the results of your choices, and the relative ease or difficulty of your life. The simple truth in your heart-in whatever form you recognize it-serves your own unique journey. As long as you remember that point, faith and courage more easily follow. The desire to open your eyes and see where you invest your energy to hold yourself back-for whatever reason-becomes a curiosity, rather than a failure. And the possibility of greatness and living your dreams emerges much more clearly. (p. 15)
